Special Announcement
Our school has decided that students are still to come to school on 25 and 26 June 2009 (Thursday and Friday), as originally scheduled, to attend the lessons for the discussion about exam papers. However, if students are ill, they should stay home and refrain from coming to school for the lessons.
The summer holiday of our school will start with effect from 29 June 2009 (Monday). The St. Paul’s Day mass scheduled for 29 June 2009, and previously announced to be confined to F.5 to F.7 students is to be cancelled.
Details of the arrangements of activities which will still be held during the summer holiday will be announced by circular and on the school website tomorrow.
For the collection of student report cards and the registration for the 2009/2010 school year, on 11 July 2009 (Saturday), only parents/guardians are to come to the school at the specified time, without being accompanied by their children.
Our school will take all necessary precautionary measures to minimize the infection risk of any member of our school, and we urge all parents/guardians and students to do the same. Let us join hands to fight against the disease.

本校決定,學生仍須於二零零九年六月二十五及二十六日(星期四及星期五)兩天,依原訂安排照常返回學校,出席試後試題討論。但學生倘若染恙不適,則應留在家中,不須回校上課。

家長/監護人只須親自於二零零九年七月十一日(星期六)依指定時間前來學校領取貴子弟/受監護人的成績表,同時為下學年度註冊,而無須攜同貴子弟/受監護人出席。

2009 Harvard Book Prize Award Ceremony
The Harvard Book Prize was awarded to Clarie Lee (6AS), Regine Loo (6AS), and Kitty Wong (6B) for their excellence in scholarship and high character, and achievement in sports, and social and religious service.
They attended the prize presentation ceremony on 13th May, 2009 and were delighted to receive their awards from Harvard University Professor Harry Lewis, and Under Secretary for Education Kenneth Chen Wei-On.

Joyful Fruit Day 09
Latest studies have confirmed the essential role of fruit and vegetables in healthy eating and their benefit in reducing the risk of common killer diseases. The Home Economics Department and Ecology & Health Club jointly organized Fruit Parties on 30th April, 09 to encourage our fellow Paulinians to have two to three servings of fruit every day. Special thanks should be given to the Parent-Teacher Association for their active participation and sponsoring the activity.

The Creative Arts Workshop (Hong Kong Island), which is part of the inaugural Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Hong Kong Institute of Aesthetic Education, was held in SPSS on 18 April 2009. This three-part activity began in early March, 2009. In the first part, an art display and video appreciation session on global warming was held from 12 to 17 March, 2009. The second part was a talk on climate change and poverty. The Know Drug No Drug competition was jointly organized by the Hong Kong Police (Wan Chai), JPC and the Wan Chai District Board. It was opened to all secondary schools in the Wan Chai district. Of the 106 winners, 98 were from SPSS, that means 92.5% of the winners were Paulinians. Well done, girls !

Our school’s Oriental Dance Team was awarded three Highly Commended Awards in the 45th School Dance Festival organized by the Education Bureau. Hong Kong Rehabilitation Power conducted a whole day workshop called ‘Life Builder’ for our Form 3 students on 19th January, 2009. They were motivated and inspired to move forward in life.

Staff from the Hong Kong Red Cross delivered a talk on blood donation to our senior students. Students gained more thorough understanding about the process of blood donation and the contribution they can make through the act. The Senior and Junior Choirs spread Christmas happiness by singing Christmas Carols to the audience during this blessed season at the Four Seasons Hotel, The Peninsula Hotel and The Hong Kong Jockey Club. Around 100 Christmas Carolers had a joyful time giving praises to Jesus.
